“When I was young my brother returned home from university with long hair ripped jeans and his very first guitar. After sporadic unsuccessful attempts over the years to teach me the intro to 'Nothing Else Matters', he started me off on a much simpler blues riff. I drove everyone crazy playing this over and over... and over!!
It wasn't until a bit later that I discovered I could actually learn other things. |

My brother then encouraged me with a loan of his battle scarred hybrid of an electric guitar and a practice amp that sometimes lasted a whole song. At this time Daz and I became founder members of our first band and I was intimidated by the idea of learning a 'whole song'. It was about this time I decided to upgrade my equipment. Long story short, I tried loads of guitars and fell in love with Fender Stratocasters!
I rediscovered all my old Iron Maiden and Queen tapes (any one still remember them?) and started to become a rock addict. |

Later I became infatuated by Vai and Satch's playing. Yngwie Malmsteen blew me away with his fast picked classic style.
I then saw Zak Wylde and my eyes were opened, I had never seen Pentatonic's played so fast and with such aggressive picking! Although I believe in wearing influences on my sleeves (no not ripping people off!), I am always trying to develop my own style. I don't want to sound exactly like anyone but me. |
|
| I like to think that Nightvision songs have always got a groove about them, but I'd just be blowing my own trumpet! If anyone can tell me something more frustrating, sweaty and FUN as being in a band then they are WRONG!!! Gigging is all I really want to do and hopefully releasing our album ‘as The Lights Go Down’ in April will make the dream of playing full time come a bit closer”.” |
